Getting There And Back Again Safely

Race fans! Here are some helpful hints on getting to and from the 40th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

If you plan on driving, always allow a little extra time to find parking of course. And be sure to remember to not leave any valuables in your car, even in your trunk. There will of course be increased security and police patrols, but thieves are bold not dumb.

Riding the Blue Line

The Metro Blue line begins at 7th Street Metro Center in Downtown Los Angeles and runs almost to the Green and Yellow entry gates. If you exit the First Street stop, you are a one block walk to the Green entrance gate. If you exit at the Transit Mall, you are one block from the Yellow entrance gate.

The Blue line runs every ten minutes on a peak schedule, and every twenty minutes on a regular schedule. For more information, access their Trip Planner at http://socaltransport.org/tm_pub_start.php or download their APP for your iPhone or smartphone.

From Orange County

If you are coming from Orange County, there are two easy routes to take. OCTA Route 50 runs Katella Boulevard all the way to CSULB and the V.A. Hospital transfer area. From this point, take Long Beach Transit Route #121. This travels the length of Ocean Boulevard.

The second major route from Orange County is Route #1, PCH. It also arrives at the CSULB and V.A. Hospital transfer area. Again, take Long Beach Transit #121 to the races.

You can also use the OCTA Trip Planner to find alternate routes to help you find your way here: http://www.octa.net/Bus-Transit/Trip-Planner/

From Torrance

Torrance Transit Route #3 runs along Torrance Boulevard, Carson Street, PCH and then to the Downtown Long Beach Transit Mall. The schedule and route map can be found here: http://transit.torranceca.gov/PDF/Line-3_R3.pdf

Remember, there will probably be DUI checkpoints set throughout the area, so be responsible and designate a driver. Or ride without worry on the many options available on public transportation.
