All the last minute preparations are underway. There are still a few more free events to take part in before the streets of Long Beach shake, rattle and roll to sound of Indy, Le Mans, Super Truck and Drift cars.
Wednesday - Roar On The Shore
From 5 – 8 p.m. on Second Street in Belmont Shore will feature race cars from the Verizon IndyCar Series and American Le Mans Series, along with classic car displays, live music, driver autograph sessions and more.
Thursday - Walk Of Fame
The Long Beach Motorsports Walk of Fame induction ceremony will be honoring Dario Franchitti, car owners Gerald Forsythe and Kevin Kalkhoven. The induction ceremony begins at 11 a.m. until noon on Pine Ave., in front of the Convention Center.
Dario Franchitti is a four time IndyCar Series Champion, and three time Indianapolis 500 Winner. Gerald Forsythe has been a car and team sponsor and owner for over 30 years in CART and Formula One. Kevin Kalkhoven purchased the Pi Group and Cosworth from Ford in 2004 with Gerald Forsythe.
Thursday - Thunder Thursday!
The official kick-off festival of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach presented by the Downtown Long Beach Associates. From 6:30 to 10:00 pm, this family fun and FREE event will host a great many events into the streets of Downtown Long Beach.
This year, Miss Southern California Erica Abke will be competing for the title of Miss Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Miss Abke has been featured in FHM, Vanity Fair and by Guess? and Axe. Her list of accolades include being a graduate of FIDM who also enjoys surfing and kick-boxing. Erica has also worked on successful shows such as Glee, CSI, and Law & Order, to name a few.
