Is it my imagination, or is Long Beach seriously going very geeky? I attended a Get Geeky! Meetup on downtown Long Beach, found a Robotics club that meets monthly, attended the Long Beach Comic Con and now... the RCX Conference this weekend, June 1st and 2nd!
You may not know what RCX means, and simply touted as the RCX Conference you may not know how geeky it can be. RCX stands for Remote Control eXpo.
Here are my personal observations:
- It's so geeky that the Robotics Club of Southern California has been invited to attend. WITH THEIR ROBOTS.
- It's so geeky that it doesn't matter what the Remote Control operates, but if it operates something, it can be part of it.
- It's so geeky that the Hobby People is the place to buy advance tickets. You can also get them online $10.
- It's so geeky that there are going to be robotic battles with fire pits and all.
- It's so geeky that you get to bring the robot to battle.
- It's so geeky that folks are a bit worried about all the signals that will be competing for airtime.
- It's so geeky that I'm thinking of wearing a costume.
If you're still reading... it's so geeky... it's probably for you!
