As the latest atmospheric river moves in on SoCal, officials warned Long Beach residents about the likely event of heavy flooding.
LONG BEACH, CA — As the latest atmospheric river moves in on Southern California, officials warned Long Beach residents about the likely event of heavy flooding.
City officials said those living along the peninsula and in low-lying areas should prepare accordingly due to the area being prone to flooding. Long Beach residents were encouraged to prepare sandbags.
"A powerful storm will bring widespread moderate to heavy rain to the region through early Wednesday, possibly resulting in flooding and gusty winds at times," the National Weather Service said.

Sandbags are available to Long Beach residents at the following locations:
- Fire Station 7 (2295 Elm St.)
- Fire Station 12 (1199 Artesia Blvd.)
- Fire Station 13 (2475 Adriatic Ave.)
- Fire Station 14 (5200 Eliot St.)
- Lifeguard Station (72nd Place and Ocean Boulevard)
Residents are required to bring their IDs and can pick up a maximum of 10 bags. Those collecting sand were also urged to bring their own shovel or tools. Collecting sand from the beach is illegal.
