Lakewood Family's Slaying Was A 'Murder-Suicide,' Councilman Says

New details have been released about the shooting that left three family members dead in Lakewood Thursday.

LAKEWOOD, CA — The triple shooting that left three people dead in a Lakewood home on Thursday was a "murder-suicide," according to a city official.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to the scene on the 5800 block of Lorelei Avenue just before 8 a.m. Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff's officials.

The victims are described as three family members: a man, a woman and a 17-year-old girl. When deputies arrived to the scene, a woman came outside. That woman was taken into custody and was questioned, KTLA reported.

Lakewood Councilman Todd Rogers in a social media post described the shooting as a "murder-suicide." He said one other person was shot at, but was not wounded. He did not specify who is suspected in the shooting.

The incident "appears to be domestic/family related and was isolated to the house," he wrote.

Reached for comment by Patch Friday morning, a LA County sheriff's spokesman declined to comment on Rogers' characterization or to provide additional information. He said the investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released at the discretion of Homicide Bureau leaders.
