Long Beach Woman Sentenced For Boyfriend's Stabbing Death
Yvonne Marie Pina, 34, pleaded no contest Feb. 14 to voluntary manslaughter for the March 1, 2016, attack on Aaron Flores, 21.

LONG BEACH, CA -- A Long Beach woman was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in state prison for stabbing her boyfriend, who died after she took him to a hospital. Yvonne Marie Pina, 34, pleaded no contest Feb. 14 to voluntary manslaughter for the March 1, 2016, attack on Aaron Flores, 21, at their residence in the 1800 block of East Hardwick Street.
Pina also admitted an allegation that she personally used a knife during the commission of the crime.
Pina and Flores had been fighting for several days before his death, and fought again the day of the killing, according to Deputy District Attorney Kelly Kelley.

Flores unsuccessfully tried to leave in Pina's car, then asked to use a neighbor's phone, the prosecutor said.
Pina returned to her home and got a knife, then approached her boyfriend who was still outside with the neighbor and stabbed him once, Kelley said.
Pina's boyfriend told her, "Look at me. What did you do to me?" according to the prosecutor.

Pina drove her boyfriend to the hospital and was arrested there upon his death, Kelley said. She has remained in jail since then.
