Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash On PCH In Long Beach

The Long Beach Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying the driver of a black Chevrolet SUV who fled the scene.

LONG BEACH, CA — The Long Beach Police Department sought the public's help in identifying the driver of a black Chevrolet SUV who fled the scene after striking a pedestrian, resulting in the man's death.

Officers were dispatched to Pacific Coast Highway and Temple Avenue near Long Beach City College at 8:29 p.m. Thursday night after receiving reports of a man lying in the middle of the road. According to police the man was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

"The pedestrian was crossing Pacific Coast Highway in a southeastern direction outside of any crosswalk west of Temple Avenue," a statement from LBPD stated. "The Chevrolet continued westbound Pacific Coast Highway, fleeing the scene."

The man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries. The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
