Man Dead After Shooting In Long Beach: Police

The shooting happened Thursday night in the area of Bort Street and Long Beach Boulevard, police said.

LONG BEACH, CA — Police say they're investigating a shooting in Long Beach that left a man dead Thursday night.

The shooting happened around 11:16 p.m. Thursday in the area of Bort Street and Long Beach Boulevard, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

There, officers located a man who had been shot once in the upper body, police said. Long Beach Fire Department personnel took the man to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said. Police identified him Friday as 27-year-old Long Beach resident Rickie Taylor.

It's unclear who shot Taylor or why. The LBPD asks that anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has any information contact detectives at 562-570-7244.
