1. 4 Years Later, Police Renew Hunt For Father's Day Killer (patch.com) — Long Beach police are renewing their call for tips in the unsolved 2022 Father's Day killing of Leevi Matuni Maseuli, who was shot while sitting in his car near Anaheim Street and Roswell Avenue with his young son inside. Detectives say they continue to pursue all leads and note that Crime Stoppers may offer reward money for information leading to an arrest, urging anyone with knowledge of the shooting to come forward. 
2. Former Long Beach Man Extradited From Colombia In Child Exploitation Case (patch.com) — A former Long Beach resident accused of sexually exploiting a Tanzanian teenager has been extradited from Colombia to face federal charges in Los Angeles after more than two years as an alleged fugitive. Authorities say he is now in federal custody pending trial on multiple counts related to enticement of a minor, illicit sexual conduct abroad, and possession of child sexual abuse material.
3. How the Aquarium of the Pacific scrambled to save hundreds of animals after 2 massive smuggling busts (lbpost.com) — The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach has taken in nearly 1,000 trafficked marine animals this summer after two major federal smuggling busts, pushing staff to work overnight to stabilize the creatures. Many will be rehomed to other accredited aquariums, while some will join Long Beach exhibits, highlighting the city's growing role in combating wildlife trafficking.
4. AIA Partners with the International Association of Emergency Managers (buildingenclosureonline.com) — Long Beach will host IAEM's 74th Annual Conference this November, bringing thousands of emergency managers and architects together to discuss climate adaptation, post-fire reconstruction, extreme heat and more. The new AIA–IAEM partnership aims to put architects on the front lines of disaster planning and recovery, with local sessions focused on building safer, more resilient communities.
