LONG BEACH, CA — On May 3, Mooney’s Pizza Tavern is reportedly having a safe-opening party where a $5 ticket could win you the safe's mystery contents.
This is according to a report by a Los Angeles food editor for sfgate.com, a San Francisco-based news website.
Mooney's Pizza opened in late February at 8105 E. Wardlow Rd. The safe, however, was discovered last year during construction of the pizzeria. It has yet to be opened.

That will change on May 3, however, as safe crackers are scheduled to open the 18-inch metal device that weighs more than 100 pounds and has sat at the location, unopened, for decades.
"Guests can purchase raffle tickets for $5 for a chance to win the contents of the safe — and should it be empty, they’ll win free pizza for a year," the article states.
