Rescue Crews Respond To Reported Car Floating In LA River: Reports

Long Beach rescue crews were not able to immediately find the car, though.

LONG BEACH, CA — The beginning of an anticipated weekend-long rainstorm saw rescue authorities at the Los Angeles River Friday morning with reports that a car was in the water and being washed toward Long Beach, reports said.

According to the Long Beach Post, the Long Beach Fire Department got a call from the LA County Fire Department just after 7:30 a.m., informing them that a dark-colored sedan was floating in the river. Fox 11 reported that a person was believed to be in the car.

LBFD crews were stationed at bridges along the river, but weren't able to locate the car by 8:30 a.m., the Long Beach Post reported. Fire department officials told the Post that most crews were called off, but some remained at the river to continue to search for the vehicle.
