Robbery Escalates To Car-To-Car Shooting Near El Dorado Park: LBPD

The Long Beach Police Department is investigating a robbery turned shooting that happened Wednesday night.

LONG BEACH, CA — A man drove after two people who, according to the Long Beach Police Department, robbed him near El Dorado Park Wednesday night.

LBPD got the call about the incident at about 8:18 p.m. on May 3 after people reported hearing gunshots in the 3000 block of Ladoga Avenue. When officers arrived, a man told them a planned meetup with another man escalated into an armed robbery.

According to police accounts, while the victim and the suspect were talking another man approached them and demanded the victim's belongings. After the victim agreed to hand over his belonging, police said the two suspects drove away.

"The victim attempted to chase after the suspects in his vehicle, which resulted in one of the suspects discharging a firearm in the direction of the victim, striking the victim’s vehicle," LBPD said in a statement.

At the scene, LBPD officers said they discovered bullet casings that indicated a shooting occurred but no injuries were reported.

No information was available about the suspects and LBPD detectives said the investigation is ongoing.
