🦃 Thanksgiving Poll!
Thanksgiving is on November 24th. How do you celebrate? Will it be a traditional Thanksgiving or a big meal with friends and family because that's what you've always done? Or do you choose not to celebrate because you feel that it glorifies the conquest of Native Americans; maybe you just don't celebrate for other reasons. Please let us know!

📰 Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:

1) Saturday morning, the Long Beach Police Department responded to calls of shots fired around Nylic Court and 10th Street. Although they found evidence that shots had been fired, there were neither victims nor suspects. (LBPD)

2) A man accused Councilmember Cindy Allen of pushing him on Friday at a campaign event for Councilmember Rex Richardson. The event took place at the Providence Gardens senior living apartment complex on Pacific Avenue. The man was taken to the hospital and the councilmember "denied any physical contact with the individual." It appears that Allen and the unnamed man had some prior interactions. (Long Beach Post)

3) On Friday, MemorialCare Medical Group celebrated the grand opening of its newest location at 5977 East Spring Street. Right across the street from the MemorialCare Miller Children & Women's Hospital, it "will improve access to maternity care and OB-GYN services." Patients are welcome beginning on Monday. Starting on November 7th, the clinic will offer primary care services "to people of all ages." (LB Business Journal)

4) The four-day vote centers will open on November 5. They will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Election Day when they will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. To make access easy for everyone, Long Beach Transit (LBT) offers "free bus rides on all its routes on Election Day." (City of LB)

5) Mark your calendars! The California Native Plant Sale begins on Tuesday and runs through November 29th. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., you can choose from "hundreds of beautiful and beneficial native plants to enhance gardens, patios or balconies and increase habitat for wildlife." Before you head to the El Dorado Nature Center, mark your selections on the plant order form; if you've always wanted Milkweed, this is the time to act! (Long Beach City, Plant List)
