The Cultural Alliance will serve as a Maker Camp Site - Starts Monday
In some cities, Maker Camp is being hosted at libraries, museums and private institutions. In Long Beach, Maker Camp is being hosted at the Cultural Alliance Long Beach, 727 Pine Ave. (3rd Gallery).
If I haven't yet told you, I'm a Maker. I make things. I love to learn through doing, with a plus, plus behind it. And finally there's a name for it. Making.
This Summer, Maker Media has put together a virtual and physical camp called Maker Camp. I told them I wanted to host a camp site, and they sent me a giant box of goodies to help me get started. Arduino and thermal inks and Raspberry Pi, OH MY! Several locations around the country are designated Super Affiliate sites and have probably already received their packages.
But... there are other things to find and some tools and expertise to locate and we're trying to be... ahem... fiscally responsible. So... Long Beach... the Cultural Alliance and I are hosting our very own Maker Camp Scavenger Hunt! And we're hoping you will help us to locate the things we need, or volunteer your expertise for the program!
So each week, I'll be posting a list of materials needed and again a list of materials retrieved. Some projects will depend upon our ability to get donations of time and materials, or use of a tool. Not successful, no camp project (we'll do something else).
*Selected projects will be held at the Long Beach Sea Base and Aquatics Center and at Great Educational Experiences Maker spaces.
