True Colors Shares the Stories of Jewish People of Color – One Perform
In the show, actors portray true, personal experiences from Jews of color highlighting the multicultural voices within the Jewish community.

The Jewish community is more diverse than one might assume. Jews of color are a minority often overlooked, and they yearn for belonging. Jewish Long Beach and the Alpert Jewish Community Center (Alpert JCC) are bringing True Colors to their Lipeles Auditorium on the Weinberg Jewish Long Beach Campus on March 19.
True Colors is a salon theatre show presented by The Braid, a nonprofit Jewish storytelling theatre organization, and made possible by the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles. In the show, actors portray true, personal experiences from Jews of color that highlight the multicultural voices within the Jewish community.
“American Jews are a remarkably diverse people, which is a reality that runs counter to popular misconceptions about Jewish communities,” said Zach Benjamin, CEO of Jewish Long Beach. “We are excited to bring this important piece of performance art to Long Beach to entertain and, most importantly, to educate our community regarding the richness of Jewish culture as well as on the challenges that Jews of color often experience.”
