Uptown Jazz Festival Coming Long Beach For 11th Year
The festival will be headlined by Grammy award-winning singer Stephanie Mills.
LONG BEACH, CA —The Uptown Jazz Festival returns to Long Beach for the 11th year on Aug. 27, headlined by Grammy award-winning singer and Broadway star Stephanie Mills.
Mills rose to fame when she was 17 as the star of the Broadway play "The Wiz." Since then she has had many R&B hits as well as five gold albums. Mills has won many awards for her performances including a Grammy award for best female R&B vocal performance in 1981 and seven Tony awards.
The lineup of other artists includes DW3, Take Me Back to Chicago, Biscuits & Gravy, Susie Hansen Latin Jazz Band, Paulie Cerra Band and DJ Mr. Quick.

The city worked together with Vice Mayor Rex Richardson to put on the free festival, which will include live music, a food and beer garden, vendors and a space for kids to play all day. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Houghton park.
