VOTE!

The polls are open, get out there Long Beach.

Today is the day your mark will make your voice count. And while less than 50% of all registered voters nationwide really do ever vote, we all have an opportunity to show the rest of the country that we are not the average city.

Voter registration is up over by over 5,000 new voters for this election. This is good news as voter rolls had been declining for many years. At the same time, about half of our city's people are registered to vote, which equates to over 250,000 people.

No matter who or how you vote, it is a right which people have fought and died for. People in other countries still do not have this right which we take for granted, and their struggle continues.

Our silent struggle is that we are complacent in our daily meandering from Starbucks, to office, and back to home. We think that our one vote will do nothing to change things. But if you take your friend, husband, wife, neighbor or co-worker along with you, then you just doubled your voice with little to no effort.
