Water Line Break Halts Traffic At Long Beach Intersection

The Long Beach Police Department advised residents to avoid the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Bixby Road due to a waterline break.

LONG BEACH, CA — Traffic was halted at Atlantic Avenue and Bixby road on Friday morning as Long Beach Police assisted the city's water department with a water line break.

At 10:59 a.m. police advised residents to avoid the area until further notice while the issue is rectified. Long Beach water said the 12-inch main break impacted traffic along Atlantic Avenue from Roosevelt Road to 37th Street.

Long Beach Water crews turned off water services in the area around 11:51 a.m. to reduce impact and water waste, officials said. Customers in the area shouldn't expect to be impacted by the shut-off and will have water during the repairs according to the water department.
