Woman Shot To Death On Long Beach Boulevard, No Arrests Made

LONG BEACH, CA — A woman was shot and killed on Long Beach Boulevard early Labor Day morning, and no arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed to Patch.

Long Beach Police Department officers responded to the 1900 block of Long Beach Boulevard at about 5:19 a.m. Monday following a report of a shooting.

Officers found an adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound and rendered medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived, police said. The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Homicide detectives are investigating the killing, but police have not released information about a possible suspect or what led to the shooting. The motive and circumstances remain under investigation.

LBPD Public Information Officer Andrea Moran confirmed to Patch Tuesday that no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting and no additional injuries had been reported.

Police declined to disclose exactly where on the 1900 block the woman was found or whether detectives believe she was shot at that location.

"To preserve the integrity of the investigation, we are unable to provide the location where the victim was found, the location of the shooting, or information regarding the relationship between the victim and suspect," Moran told Patch.

Suspect information remains under investigation, Moran said.

The woman's identity had not been released as of Tuesday afternoon. Police said her identity was being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
