1 Detained In Hollywood Hills Brush Fire

Firefighters held the blaze to less than one-eighth of an acre as LAFD air support used water drops to extinguish the fire.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Arson investigators detained a person in connection with a brush fire overnight in the Hollywood Hills.

The blaze broke out shortly after 3:30 a.m. Friday at 2580 Cahuenga Boulevard. The Los Angeles Fire Department deployed ground and air crews to contain the blaze in hilly terrain and breezy conditions.

Firefighters held the blaze to less than one-eighth of an acre as LAFD air support used water drops to extinguish the fire, said LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.

"Ground crews hiked to the east side of the Cahuenga Pass south of the Hollywood Cross to fully contain and extinguish flames in less than an hour," he added.

It took firefighters less than an hour to put out the blaze.

LAFD Arson investigators and Los Angeles Police Department detectives are questioning a possible suspect to determine if he had a role in starting the fire, said Humphrey.

There were no injuries, evacuations or structures threatened in the fire.
