1 Hospitalized, 1 Arrested In Compton Shooting, Apartment Fire
Black smoke rose from an apartment in Compton after a man barricaded himself inside a unit and opened fire, police said.
COMPTON, CA — A man was arrested and a man was hospitalized after being shot in an apartment in Compton that was on fire on Thursday morning, authorities said.
Black smoke rose from the second-floor apartment on the 100 block of Acadia Avenue after a suspect reportedly barricaded himself inside the unit, ABC7 reported.
A victim who had been shot was taken to a hospital and a suspect in the shooting fired at deputies but did not wound them, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported.

By 8:15 a.m., a fire was reported in the apartment where the suspect was hiding. Deputy Miguel Meza with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department told reporters the suspect ignited the fire inside the building.
A half an hour later, the suspect was taken into custody, the sheriff's department reported. Firefighters then began working to extinguish the flames.
