1 Injured In Los Angeles County Freeway Shooting

The shooting reportedly involved a car chase across several freeways. The California Highway Patrol is searching for the shooter.

ENCINO, CA — Police Thursday are searching for suspects in a freeway shooting and chase spanning several Los Angeles County freeways, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident started shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday with a shooting on State Route 60 near Paramount Boulevard and ended near the Ventura (101) Freeway in Encino, CHP Officer Luis Quintero told Patch. It is being investigated as a possible carjacking gone wrong.

The driver of a black Mercedes-Benz E350 reported being shot at and suffering a graze wound in the San Gabriel Valley area. The attackers pursued him across several freeways, the driver and a passenger told the CHP.

Officers directed the driver to exit the freeway near Balboa Boulevard in Encino where he and his passenger were treated at the scene. The driver of the pursuing vehicle, a dark-colored sedan, was not found.

Authorities have not released a suspect description, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear, said Quintero.
