2 Arrested In Northridge Burglary Spree

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Authorities arrested two men suspected of burglarizing bicycle shops in the Northridge area after a surveillance video allegedly connected them to the crime spree.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the pair were caught red-handed.

Officers from the LAPD's Devonshire Area responded to a call of a burglary in-progress at a bicycle shop at 12:50 a.m. on March 24, where they located a pickup truck and found the two men.

The suspects, 29-year-old Jose Figueroa and 40-year-old Ismael Contreras, both from Los Angeles, were arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary.

"Detectives completed additional investigative work on this case and connected the two suspects to three additional bicycle shop burglaries in the Devonshire Area since November 2022," police said in a written statement.

Authorities released video from the alleged burglary Thursday.

"The presence of surveillance video was instrumental in piecing these crimes together and helped to solidify criminal case filings for each suspect," police said. "The bicycles taken were high value items and Devonshire detective personnel are releasing video for law enforcement agencies that may have had similar thefts at bicycle shops."
