2 Brush Fires Break Out In Santa Clarita Area

LA County firefighters are battling two blazes that broke out within minutes of each other. The fires are dubbed the Oil and Needham Fires.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles County Firefighters are battling a pair of brush fires that broke out almost simultaneously in the Santa Clarita area Thursday afternoon.

The first fire, dubbed the Oil Fire, broke out at Placerita Canyon Road shortly before 12:30 p.m. and quickly scorched an acre, reported KHTS. The second was reported at 12:44 p.m. a short distance away near Sierra Highway and Needham Ranch Parkway. The blaze, dubbed the Needham Fire quickly ate up five acres, according to county fire officials.

“We were dispatched for the Oil Fire at 12:26 and for the Needham Fire at 12:44,” Charisma Murillo with the Los Angeles County Fire Department told KHTS.

No structures were threatened, and no injuries were immediately reported
