2 Hospitalized In Chicago Building Fire

The blaze sent smoke billowing into the air as flames shot from the roof.

CHICAGO, IL — Two people were injured in a fire that badly damaged a building Saturday night in Chicago's East Garfield Park neighborhood. The blaze sent smoke billowing into the air as flames shot from the roof, according to reports.

The fire broke out just before 5:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of West Madison Street, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Two people were transported by paramedics to local hospitals. The was no immedaite information about their conditions Saturday evening.

According to NBC Chicago, the fire engulfed the roof of a multi-unit apartment apartment building, sending smoke high into the sky and visible from nearby I-290.
