2 Shot In Botched Valley Carjacking; Shooters At Large
Overnight, police searched the Lake Balboa area for two suspects who shot a man and teen in a failed carjacking attempt.
LAKE BALBOA, CA — Armed carjackers remained at large in the San Fernando Valley Friday morning after shooting a man and teen in a failed carjacking in Lake Balboa, according to police.
The police search continued overnight after the attempted carjacking ended with a struggle, a chase and a shooting just before 9 p.m. in the 7800 block of Amestoy Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
"It was an attempted carjacking. The two suspects approached the vehicle. The suspects entered the vehicle and a struggle ensued," said LAPD Officer Rosario Cervantes. "The suspects fled, and it looks like the victims followed. That's when the suspects shot the victims and were able to flee."

The suspects, two males, were last seen fleeing the area on foot, Cervantes said. Both victims — a 50-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy — were rushed to a nearby hospital in stable condition, she added. The man was shot repeatedly while the teen suffered a graze wound.
