2 SigAlerts: CHP Shooting And A Crash Shut Down 105 Freeway

The CHP issued two separate SigAlerts for the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway Wednesday following an officer-involved shooting.

PARAMOUNT, CA — For the second time in a month, a California Highway Patrol shooting prompted the closure of a major Southern California Freeway. The officer-involved shooting occurred on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in the Paramount area several miles east of a crash in the Lennox area that also triggered a SigAlert on the same freeway Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting occurred at about 11:20 a.m., prompting the closure of the westbound 105 Freeway near Garfield Avenue.

No officers were injured in the incident, the CHP said. Authorities closed the westbound 105 Freeway, along with the Garfield Avenue on-ramp to the westbound freeway, while an investigation was conducted.

Further details were not released by the CHP.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, paramedics sent to the location on a report of a traffic accident took one person to a hospital for an unspecified reason.

Further west near Hawthorne Boulevard, the CHP issued a SigAlert for the eastbound lanes due to a crash not long after the shooting.

The crash was blocking the carpool lane and number one and two lanes, according to the CHP. The SigAlert was expected to last until shortly after 2 p.m.
