LOS ANGELES, CA — Mega Millions players in Norwalk, Chatsworth and Aracdia may not have won the $1.6 billion jackpot, but they are sitting pretty with a ticket worth $562,472.
The three LA County winning tickets were among eight sold in California in the record- setting multi-state Mega Millions lottery draw, the California Lottery announced Wednesday. A ticket sold in South Carolina won the jackpot all six numbers. That winner has the option of accepting the lump sum of $913.7 million or the world-record $1.6 billion jackpot paid out over 30 installments.
California law requires major payoffs of lottery games to be paid on a pari-mutuel basis. The numbers drawn Tuesday were 5, 28, 62, 65, 70 and the Mega number was 5.

A winning Norwalk ticket was sold at a Circle K convenience store, a Chevron station in Arcadia and a 7-Eleven store in Chatsworth. There were 28 tickets with five numbers but missing the Mega number sold outside California. California law requires major payoffs of lottery games to be paid on a pari-mutuel basis.
The jackpot eclipsed the previous record of $1.586 billion for a Jan. 13, 2016, Powerball drawing. It was the 26th since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold. The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number is 1 in 302,575,350, according to the California Lottery.
