6 Trapped In Movie Studio Construction Site Roof Collapse

Firefighters airlifted the workers from the wreckage, hospitalizing five of the workers.

GLENDALE, CA — A roof collapsed at a movie studio construction site in Glendale Wednesday morning, trapping six workers.

The Los Angeles Fire Department conducted aerial rescues, hoisting the injured workers from a helicopter hovering above the site. The dramatic rescue was captured on video here.

The collapse occurred shortly before noon Wednesday in the 1200 block of South Glendale Avenue. The site is close to a Glendale Fire Department Station, and firefighters heard the roof collapse and rushed to the scene, KTLA reported. Five of the trapped workers were rushed to the hospital, but none had serious injuries, according to fire department officials.

Crews were using a crane to install large metal roof trusses when the collapse occurred.
