Active Shooter Arrested In Los Angeles

Police in Los Angeles arrested an shooting suspect near the scene of a fire where two bodies were found, according to media reports.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Police in Los Angeles have identified a man who reportedly shot two people in the area of Orchard and 154th Street Tuesday morning, according to media reports. After a brief barricade, police have arrested the suspect in the shootings.

Firefighters were sent to the 15400 block of South Orchard Avenue about 4:30 a.m. and extinguished the flames in the two-story structure in 12 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported. Four adults and a child were displaced by the fire, and the American Red Cross was sent to assist them, according to the LAFD.

"Subsequent to the structure fire being extinguished, shots were fired on scene," an LAFD statement said, turning the event into "a barricaded- suspect incident."

Los Angeles Police Department officers were placed on a citywide Tactical Alert as a precaution, meaning officers could be kept on the job beyond the end of their shifts, and a SWAT team was sent to the scene of the standoff.

About 6:30 a.m., the suspect was taken into custody and a person was found dead, according to police and reports from the scene.

During the standoff, one shooting victims has been rescued from the front lawn of the home and is being treated for multiple gunshot wounds, according to tweets from Fox News reporter Gigi Graciette.

Police have asked people to stay away from the area.
