Actor Richard Kray Portrays Character ‘Johnny Skunk ®’​

Actor and entertainer, Richard Kray entertains and uplifts audiences of all ages through his portrayal of his created character.

Richard Kray, a former trial attorney from La Porte, Indiana, relocated to Southern California decades ago, shortly after relocating to the area, he developed an entertaining character which he entitled, “Johnny Skunk®." Kray portrays “Johnny Skunk” at a variety of events in the Southern California area. Kray, in character as “Johnny Skunk,” has performed at events such as the ‘Do Dah Parade,’ ‘Apollo Theater with Steve Harvey,’ ‘Blue Jay Christmas Parade,’ St. Patrick’s Day Parade,’ ‘Great Western Show’ at the Anaheim Convention Center, and Fox Television’s ‘Wilton North Report.” Kray, performed prior to the Covid pandemic, with hopes and plans to do so again when group functions are permitted again, providing entertainment to children and their families. He has entertained in character at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, as well as many other venues throughout Southern California. Richard Kray articulated in a recent interview that he “loves to bring joy to people, of all ages through his character “Johnny Skunk.” He has attended benefits to help children and animals and has participated in a number of benefits to include ‘Toy for Tots Variety Show,’ and events held at the ‘Lake Arrowhead Youth Recreational Center,’Optimist Club Boys Home,’ Scandia Crippled Children Christmas Party,’ ‘Ahead with Horses,’ and the ‘Wildlife Way Station.”

When Kray appeared at the Apollo many years ago, performing in character as“Johnny Skunk,” Kray said that Steve Harvey asked him what he would like to become of Johnny Skunk.
Kray stated, “My response was that I would like to do “a children's TV Show, and I told the audience that I wrote a comic book series and a screenplay, which has since been developed fully." Continuing, “Johnny Skunk could be the next Batman, Superman, and so on, akin to other superheroes.” Kray continued, “The audience was not in awe, yet at that point.” According to Kray's account and memory of the event, Steve Harvey then stated: "Wait a minute folks, wait a minute, Batman and Superman started with a comic book.”

When Kray was asked what his plans are for the future, he stated, “I would love to do more events to benefit children and animals, and to resume my work in television and film, as well as live performances, which includes radio.” Richard Kray began acting in the mid 1980’s. Several years ago, Richard Kray portrayed Abraham in the HBO Production, “The Story of God.” His role was initially cast to someone else and then replaced with Kray. “The Story of God” starred Morgan Freeman. Kray was also cast in the Nick Jonas video, for the song “Jealous,” in which he was featured in several of the scenes in the music video.

Richard Kray, through his character “Johnny Skunk” has also written songs. He sings the songs while playing the guitar, arriving at events in his ‘SkunkMobile®’ a fully functional prop he created to go along with his portrayal of “Johnny Skunk.” He is performing ‘Skunkin Blues’ here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uNjjSnsfJU. He describes his musical style as 'Country Blues' mixed with a little bit of 'Rock n’ Roll.' Richard Kray describes his character “Johnny Skunk” as a character somewhere between 'Davy Crockett' and 'Captain Kangaroo. '“Every skit I perform contains a moral, such as teaching kids about respecting one another, "say no to bullying," “brush your teeth so you can keep your teeth,’ and so on; his entertaining and uplifting spirit through “Johnny Skunk” also educates about things that matter to kids and their parents about things such as the importance of treating one another with kindness.

The work of Richard Kray through his development of “Johnny Skunk” don't stop there. In addition to Kray’s development of his persona and character, which entertains crowds in a fun and uplifting manner, Kray has created a number of intellectual properties. He plans to one day publish his completed comic book and his screenplay, with plans for a children’s television series as well.” Richard Kray’s comic book about “Johnny Skunk” is over 100 pages long, complete with illustrations to include comics such as, “The Beginning of the Skunkman,” “The Fragrance Factory Danger,” “The Alien Space Danger.” “Currently, there are 8 volumes and 282 illustrations ready to be published sometime in 2020 or 2021,” states Kray.

Richard Kray’s comic book/graphic novel series is entitled, “The Skunkman® - A Crimefighter with a Nose for Trouble and a Scent for Every Occasion.” According to Richard Kray, aka “Johnny Skunk,” in one of the episodes a character by the name of John La Blanc is "roaming through the Pacific Northwest in search of a rare plant for his newest fragrance. His search is interrupted when his trusty left nostril begins to twitch - which means, John La Blanc smells trouble. Further investigation leads John to a nearby nuclear power plant. It’s the ‘Skunkman’ to the rescue as Johnny finds a way to sneak into the facility and shut down the reactor before a core meltdown begins,” states Kray. All of his material is trademarked and copyrighted, and will be available to readers of all ages in the coming year.
