Actress Bella Thorne Says She Endured Sex Abuse As A Child

Thorne is now asking all of her followers to stand up for other victims.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles actress and singer Bella Thorne has come forward with her own #MeToo story, saying she endured sexual and physical abuse until her mid-teens. Now, she's asking her followers to stand up for every person who has been mistreated.

On Monday, a day after the "Times Up" rallying cry took center stage at the Golden Globes, Thorne posted on Instagram that she was sexually assaulted "growing up from the day I can remember till I was 14."

She said it only stopped when she mustered up the courage to lock her door and sit by it all night.

"Waiting for someone to take advantage of my life again," she said. "Over and over I waited for it to stop and finally it did."

Thorne added that some people aren't as "lucky to get out alive."

In a follow up tweet, Thorne said that as a child she never knew what was right or wrong and didn't realize the person sneaking into her bedroom at night was a bad person. She also added the now-infamous hashtag #timesup.

This isn't the first time Thorne has said she was sexually abused. In December, she responded to a tweet that she was molested as a child and that the world can be a "sick place sometimes."

Thorne is best known for her roles on the Disney Chennel's TV show "Shake It Up!" She also appeared on HBO's Big Love and in Adam Sandler's move Blended.
