All About The Cinnamon Spins Flavor Into Art With Its Sherman Oaks Bakery Launch
After drawing crowds at Smorgasburg in DTLA, the family bakery plants roots in the valley with hand-rolled buns and bold flavor mashups.

Walking into All About The Cinnamon in Sherman Oaks, you’re immediately overcome by the sensational scent of cinnamon, sugar, and pure joy. The warm aroma swirls through the air like a melody—comforting, bold, and completely irresistible.
This isn’t your average bakery, and it’s definitely not your mall food court Cinnabon. This is a cinnamon bun takeover, valley-style.

Now officially open at 4341 Van Nuys Boulevard —right among neighborhood favorites Pita Kitchen, Crave Sushi, and Stanley’s—the Philly-born bakery has finally planted roots in Los Angeles after becoming one of the most talked-about vendors at Smorgasburg Los Angeles.

Every Sunday at The Row in DTLA, lines form as fans wait for a taste of their famous buns. “The response at Smorgasburg was unreal,” says co-founder Lindsay McDonald. “People kept asking when we were opening a store—and now, here we are.”

Founded by Lindsay and her husband, Lawrence McDonald, All About The Cinnamon started in 2021 in their home kitchen in Philadelphia during COVID, inspired by Lindsay’s childhood baking sessions with her grandmother and Lawrence’s lifelong passion for food and hip hop.

What began as a pop-up has grown into a full-blown phenomenon—one that caters to everyone’s cravings, with indulgent, hand-rolled buns made fresh daily, including vegan and gluten-free options that don’t skimp on flavor.
“We brought that same love, hustle, and flavor we began in Philly to Los Angeles,” says Lindsay. “This bakery is our way of sharing a piece of our story, our passion, and, of course, our cinnamon buns with the community.”

Each bun is baked to perfection and bursting with personality. The names alone are as fun and flavorful as the toppings:
- The Big Poppa – the OG classic that started it all.
- The LL Cool J – loaded with Reese’s peanut butter cups and peanut butter icing.
- The Slick Rick – cookie butter, cream cheese icing, and a Lotus cookie on top.
- The Ice Cube – stuffed with Oreo pieces and a cookies-and-cream glaze.
- The DMX – bursting with cinnamon, topped with Cinnamon Toast Crunch and caramel drizzle.

And the lineup doesn’t stop there—some of their menu items pay tribute to hip hop queens, including Beyoncé, Lil’ Kim, Cardi B, Foxy Brown, and Missy Elliott. Each one adds its own diva-level twist to the dough, from extra-drippy icing to decadent, over-the-top toppings.
But here’s where All About The Cinnamon takes things to the next level: the McDonalds are expanding beyond sweet.
Yes, the bakery that made cinnamon sexy again is now diving into the savory side of life—with their brand-new pizza rolls. Imagine a fluffy, golden bun stuffed with tangy tomato sauce, a gooey cheese blend, and slices of pepperoni baked right into the swirl. It’s the same hand-rolled dough fans love, reimagined as the ultimate comfort food crossover. The savory additions mark an exciting new chapter for the bakery—and the smell alone could stop you in your tracks.
Each of these massive rolls, sweet or savory, ranges from $8 to $10—a small price for something this big on flavor (and on Instagram appeal).
The McDonalds, both alumni of a performing arts high school, have built their brand around the rhythm of hip hop and the energy of community. The beats bump softly in the background, the buns are served with flair, and each flavor tells a story.
And there’s one very important member of the team who always has final say: their 13-year-old son, Dominic. “Dominic’s our official taste tester,” Lawrence shares. “If it doesn’t pass his test, it doesn’t make the menu.”

That family connection—and their shared passion—infuses every swirl of icing and every sprinkle of sugar.
“We’re bringing more than just cinnamon buns—we’re bringing an experience,” says Lawrence. “This bakery is where food meets culture, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (or until sold out), All About The Cinnamon invites you to stop by, grab a bun, and get lost in the flavor. And if you can’t make it to Sherman Oaks, you can still catch them Sundays at Smorgasburg at The Row in DTLA—where this sweet success story first started heating up.
Because when it comes to cinnamon buns—and now even pizza rolls—it’s no longer just about Cinnabon. It is indeed All About The Cinnamon.
