1. 2-Year-Old Abducted In Los Angeles, Amber Alert Issued (patch.com) — Los Angeles residents are being asked to watch for a 2-year-old boy, Jax Robottom, after an Amber Alert was issued following his reported abduction near Figueroa Street and Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles. Authorities say he was last seen with 33-year-old Marcus Clayton around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, and anyone spotting them is urged to call 911 immediately.
2. Mom Gives Birth In SUV Near LA County Freeway Before Family Reaches Hospital (patch.com) — Drivers near the 57 Freeway in eastern Los Angeles County witnessed an unusual scene when a San Dimas mother delivered her baby girl in the family SUV before reaching the hospital. Los Angeles County firefighters and the CHP responded near the Via Verde on-ramp, helping stabilize mom and baby before transporting them to a local hospital for evaluation.
3. 2 LA Men Arrested In San Diego County Debit Card Swap Scheme (patch.com) — Los Angeles County residents Sergio Romero and Franklin Florez are accused of traveling across Southern California, including Los Angeles and Orange counties, to swap victims' debit cards and drain their accounts. San Diego County authorities say at least five people, including elderly victims, lost thousands of dollars in Lemon Grove alone, and investigators are linking the pair to roughly 30 similar cases regionwide.
4. UCLA To Offer Nation's First Bachelor's Degree In Digital Humanities (patch.com) — UCLA in Los Angeles is launching the nation's first bachelor's degree in digital humanities, expanding its already popular minor into a full department. Students will study topics like AI, UX design, social media analytics, and digital mapping while also examining the ethical and societal impacts of emerging technologies.
5. Palisades Fire family says City of LA is delaying rebuild over 5-foot setback (foxla.com) — A Pacific Palisades family who lost their home in the Palisades Fire says Los Angeles officials are delaying their rebuild by demanding the new house be set five feet farther from the street, shrinking their yard. With thousands of local homes destroyed and only a fraction rebuilt, they argue the setback rule and permit delays are adding financial strain and slowing neighborhood recovery.
