LOS ANGELES, CA — An armed suspect was arrested Saturday morning following a pursuit on multiple freeways that ended in Los Alamitos.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Newton Division initiated the pursuit of a brown Mercedes sedan at 11:40 p.m. Friday after the driver failed to yield at a stop sign in downtown Los Angeles. The suspect drove onto the Harbor ( 110) Freeway, and then transitioned to the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

California Highway Patrol officers joined the pursuit as the suspect drove onto the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway before moving to the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway.
