Arson Suspected In Elysian Park Brush Fire; 1 Arrested

Firefighters arrived on the scene of a grass fire near Radio Hill and witnessed someone setting a fire, according to authorities.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A small grass fire was quickly contained Wednesday morning in Elysian Park, and one person was detained in connection with an arson investigation, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The blaze was first reported at 9:29 a.m. in the 400 block of West Solano Avenue in the area of Radio Hill, according to LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

"While on scene, firefighters witnessed a male setting a fire," Stewart said. "LAFD Arson [and LAPD] took the person into custody and are conducting a full investigation."

By 10:39, a.m., the blaze was contained, she said.

No structures were threatened in the fire, and no injuries were reported.
