Artist Collaboration Entitled "Heartbreak Symphony" Inspires

Milena Matic, Alan Logston and Devin James Stinson create "Heartbreak Symphony." This work reminds artist Milena to never up on her art.

Three artists, to include Alan Logston (composer), Milena Matic (artist) and Devin James Stinson, (lyricist) were involved in the creation of “Heartbreak Symphony,” which represents a candid, inspiring, hope evoking collaboration. “Heartbreak Symphony” is a collaboration which provided the fortitude and hope for one of the artists. Hope to realize that she must stay true to who she is - an artist, a talented artist who creates to inspire not just herself, but to inspire many others. Devin James Stinson describes “Heartbreak Symphony” as a “culminating, roller coaster type of spoken word piece, which starts with the struggles of being an artist, and ends with a call for unity among people as a whole.”

According to Devin James Stinson, “Heartbreak Symphony” was inspired by a lot of things. “ It represents the struggle of being an artist, as well as needing to create and express, and wanting that validation, which makes you feel as if you created something meaningful. It reminds us sometimes that validation isn't what you were expecting, and it is evoked at times when we least expect it." Stinson continues, "This song was written a year after the death of Milena's father, a year prior she experienced so much heartbreak and grief. This was also written during anxious and nervous times for many in the world, for a variety of reasons.”
Stinson continued,
“Heartbreak Symphony gave me a chance to start out raw, and real, to tell the story of those who are misunderstood, but to get to a place of love, unity and hope, to invite everyone to support one another by standing strong with love in the end.”

“Heartbreak Symphony” is where three amazing artists created a message which started with raw emotion, and lead to a place of healing and hope. It is about perservering, continuing to create beautiful art, and to stand with love for all. It is a message of true support and admiration for one another. It's a reminder to all to stand with unity and to never give up on using one’s God given gifts and talents to uplift, inspire, motivate and create, and encourage others to do the same.

Stinson speaks about his contribution as a lyricist, writing and speaking the words which resonated with the visual and musical art from his fellow collaborators, “Heartbreak Symphony gave me a chance to start out from a very real place in terms of what I had experienced. I aimed to tell the story of those who are misunderstood, and to get to a place to truly invite everyone to support one another in the end. It was a true sense of FlowTherapy, in that it gave a voice to every frustration and anxiety that I was experiencing at that time. I knew that my feelings were felt by others felt as well.”

Milena Matic is the visual artist of “Heartbreak Symphony," responsible for the creation of the visual art. Alan Logston initially had created the video with his music. The merge of Logston’s music and Matic’s artwork, started out as an effort to create an online portfolio for her artwork and Logston’s music. Alan Logston played the piano, and created music which definitely evokes emotion.
Devin James Stinson then stepped up after the creation of the musically and visually stunning video to add lyrics, telling the story in true collaborative form.

“Heartbreak Symphony” evokes emotions, and the artists depict their truth of what they have felt or experienced, through the medium of art, each bringing forth their own unique talents. As one proceeds through watching the video, by its conclusion, there is an essence felt of overcoming pain, and how overcoming and healing or beginning to heal, provides the impetus for hope, freedom of expression and a message to never give up on using one’s gifts and talents.

Milena Matic, after seeing this collaborative effort of the artists brought to fruition, realized, according to Stinson “she must continue to do her art, as this is part of her and her art definitely matters.” Continuing, “previously as many artists experience, after a hard year and the loss of her father, she expressed thinking about stopping her work as an artist. She realized she could not, this is part of her, it inspires her. She has immense talent which can inspire many.”

The beautiful collaborative effort shows the importance of art, and the healing which may be derived from the expression of it. One utilizing their gifts and talents most definitely is healing, inspirational and can lift others up as well.

“I find this to be the most inspirational thing about Heartbreak Symphony,” states Stinson. Continuing, “Milena didn't give up on her art form after she watched it. I remember telling her that she couldn't give up, and that she needed to keep going. We released the video on Facebook to mark the one year anniversary of her father's death, to celebrate his life and Milena continuing her art. “After seeing the completed collaborative video, Milena expressed a lot of gratitude, and realized at that point that she couldn't give up creating the art as she does, as this has become part of her identity. Many have immense gratitude for her strength, one can heal by living life with purpose, utilizing one's talents to inspire. Those who love and appreciate her art, and all artists who create, communicate and inspire, are thankful Milena Matic is still painting her beautiful imagery to this day,” concludes Stinson.

Devin James Stinson concluded the interview by stating, “for me, this collaboration helped me to compose some of the most inspirational words I've written thus far doing FlowTherapy. In the beginning, it was about how Milena's art, and how Alan's music helped to draw those truly therapeutic lyrics out of me. This inspired me."

Continuing, “I'm grateful for the words which flowed from me for this collaborative work. Through the spoken word format alone, when I read through it with the words alone, it allows me to take pauses that weren't there before, and to let some of the words linger a little longer, where I pause and reflect on what I wrote. I feel as if every artist has the best of them brought out in times of collaboration, because it's truly a showcase moment." Stinson continued,
"I remember when I would hop on features in hip-hop tracks, and here I would have 16 bars to think of in a completely different manner than I would if I were in “song mode.” The best of me in terms of wordplay, rhyme schemes, storytelling, and concepts would just flow naturally.”

When Devin James Stinson was asked what he hopes others take away from this collaborative art, that which is “Heartbreak Symphony,"
Stinson spoke about hope. He wants hope to be conveyed.

As I say in the piece, ‘Hope is still what draws the people to it,’
“I maintain that hope is that beacon of light. Hope is that lighthouse to a wandering boat at night, making sure that it continues to find its way."

"Hope, to me, is that faith based element that every dream is made of. Sometimes, against all the facts, hope is still what prevails and comes out ahead," concludes Stinson.

Through learning about the artistic, creative, compelling and inspiring collaborative work entitled “Heartbreak Symphony," created through the various artists work, Devin James Stinson on lyrics; Milena Matic, visual artist and composer; Alan Logston, many elements of their engaging work is profound, to include their innate abilities as artists. What stands out the most as the writer of this article to shine the light on their work, and as a fellow artist, writer and one put on earth to perpetuate love and to heal, to inspire and encourage, many things are profound. Art has the ability to unite. Art has the ability to heal. Art expresses what others may find difficult to express. Creating art to inspire is beautiful. Art can perpetuate truth, a truth felt by the artist of which some others will relate.

Art is freedom of expression and art can remind people of their worth, encouraging others to recognize their value as well and to inspire, uplift and most importantly to unite with love. Everyone has God given innate abilities and talents to utilize to help contribute to creating a more love based, compassionate inspiring world.
Artists are needed. As we, as artists create and communicate, perpetuate beauty, convey truth, enlighten, while standing strong with love, and advocating for unity, we provide hope - artists can heal the world.
