Barricaded Woman Sets 7-Eleven Ablaze During Rampage: LAPD

A half-naked woman was arrested after allegedly barricading herself in a Mid-Wilshire area store and setting it on fire, police said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A woman is in custody Tuesday after thrashing and setting fire to a 7-Eleven convenience in Los Angeles while barricading herself inside, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. An employee locked himself inside the store's back office and was rescued by firefighters, authorities said.

The chaotic scene unfolded at 9:30 p.m. Monday night at a 7-Eleven at the intersection of West Olympic Boulevard and South La Brea Avenue.

Police were called to the Mid-Wilshire area regarding a disturbance at the store and discovered a woman piling items against the front door in an effort to block the entrance. The fire broke out as LAPD officers entered the store, according to NBC Los Angeles.

According to KTLA, video from the scene showed the woman was armed with a knife. Police took the woman, who was only partially clothed into custody without incident, according to reports from the scene.

The Los Angeles Fire Department quickly put out the blaze. However, broadcast footage by NBC Los Angeles showed a scene of destruction with empty shelves and products strewn across the store.
