Bee Swarm Attacks 2, Residents Advised to Shelter In Place
A man and a volunteer police officer were hospitalized with bee stings, and Encino residents were advised to stay indoors.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A swarm of hundreds of bees descended on an Encino neighborhood Monday afternoon, and authorities are warning residents to stay indoors with their windows and doors shut and to avoid the area. Two people, including a volunteer Los Angeles Police Department officer, were repeatedly stung by the bees. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital.
The Los Angeles Fire Department received a call about a massive bee swarm shortly before 4 p.m. in the 17000 block of West Adlon Road, said LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
"We transported one adult male patient with multiple bee stings, and a second patient, and LAPD Volunteer, is going to be transported," said Stewart.
