Beverly Center Shooting Was Apparent Suicide
Reports of a shooting created a scare at the crowded mall Sunday afternoon.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Police responded to reports of a shooting at the popular Beverly Center Sunday afternoon and discovered the body of a man, who had apparently killed himself.
Coroner’s officials confirmed the shooting Monday. Gunfire rang out at the mall on on La Cienega Boulevard near Beverly Hills shortly after 12 p.m., said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
The man died at the scene, and authorities did not determine why he took his life nor why he chose to do so at the crowded shopping center.

His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin. No other people were hurt at the mall, Lopez said.
