The 78-year-old Miller underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery Feb. 2. He reduced his on-air role with the team this season, calling fewer road games.

Miller has been the voice of the Kings since 1973. He received the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award, presented annually by the NHL Broadcasters' Association for outstanding contributions to their profession and the game during their career in hockey broadcasting, in 2000, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006, and is a member of the Southern California Broadcasters Hall of Fame. The press box at Staples Center is named after him.
