Brush Fire Burns Along 405 Freeway In Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA — A large brush fire at a homeless encampment is burning alongside the San Diego (405) Freeway in Long Beach, backing up traffic for miles.

The fire was burning alongside the southbound side of the freeway near Lakewood Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. Shortly before 8: 30 p.m., firefighters were called to the scene. The blaze shut down several lanes of the southbound side of the freeway.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the brush alongside the freeway was fully engulfed in flames, and a tent was seen burning.
