Burglary Suspects Crash Into Bus During Police Chase, 5 Injured: LAPD

A police officer was one of five people injured in the crash.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Burglary suspects fleeing police slammed their vehicle into a Metro bus near downtown Los Angeles on Friday in a crash that left five people injured, including a police officer.

The incident was linked to a burglary call reported just before noon near Miramar Street and Third Street in Westlake, according to the Los Angeles Police Department

Officers called for backup after encountering the suspects in the area just east of the 110 Freeway and began their pursuit, KTLA reported.

Minutes later, the suspects slammed their vehicle into a Metro bus near 6th and Bixel streets.

Two people who were inside the suspects' vehicle were transported to a local hospital in serious condition. An occupant of the bus and one other person was transported to a hospital in fair condition, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

An LAPD officer sustained minor injuries, authorities said.

All suspects were taken into custody following the collision, police said.

Aerial footage aired by KTLA shows a silver SUV with heavy front-end damage stopped at the 6th and Bixel intersection and an orange Metro bus stopped nearby.
