CA Officer Killed While Serving A Search Warrant
A police officer was shot to death and another was injured while serving a search warrant in San Luis Obispo on Monday.
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — A police officer was killed while on duty Monday afternoon on the central coast of California. The officer was fatally shot while serving a warrant in San Luis Obispo, officials said.
Officers were serving a search warrant at an apartment on Camellia Court when a suspect shot two officers. The shooter was killed by police, the San Luis Obispo Police Department said in a statement.
One officer died while another was in stable condition at an area hospital, officials said. Police asked residents to avoid the area south of Higuera Street and Margarita Avenue Monday afternoon during their investigation.

"This is a tragedy beyond measure for all of those who serve and care about our community," said Derek Johnson, San Luis Obispo City Manager. "Our deepest condolences go out to the family. We are devastated by this loss."
The officers' identities were not released and details on the incident were sparse as of Tuesday morning.

"You're in our department's thoughts and prayers," the Orange County Sheriff's Department tweeted at SLOPD. "Very sorry to hear of the loss of your officer and the injury to the second officer. We are praying for a fast a full recovery for the second officer."
