Cat Trapped In Wall Gets Lucky Break
A group of animal control workers happened to be walking to lunch when they noticed a cat stuck in a wall. Of Course, they named him Wally.
DOWNEY, CA — A group of Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control workers found themselves in the right place at the right time Thursday just when a little white cat found himself trapped inside a cinder block wall.
The crew was headed off to lunch in Downey when they came upon the trapped cat, according to Don Belton, public information officer with the department. Luckily for the 2-year-old male domestic short-hair cat, it got himself stuck near the county Department of Animal Care and Control facility on Garfield Avenue right at lunch time.
Employees passing by stopped to investigate, and they carefully freed the terrified cat after it was sedated, Belton said. Naturally, they named him Wally. They don't know how Wally ended up inside the wall.

"He was most likely trying to find a hiding place," Belton said.
The cat, which is not microchipped, is in good condition but "a little stressed" and is being watched at the Downey Animal Care Center. The plan is for him eventually to be put up for adoption once he's physically and emotionally recovered from his ordeal, Belton said.
