Morning, people of Los Angeles! Sean Peek here with the latest copy of theLos Angeles Daily.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and not as warm. High: 76 Low: 56.

Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

  1. The citizen commission charged with redrawing political boundaries in Los Angeles called on city leaders Thursday to expand the number of council districts, saying such a move would "meet the needs of a complex and changing" city. In a report that will be submitted to the council, the 21-member Redistricting Commission said L.A. has gone nearly a century with the same number of council districts — and lags behind other major cities on the ratio of council members to constituents. (KTLA)
  2. A week from Monday, restaurants in the city of Los Angeles will be required to check indoor diners for proof of COVID vaccination — a situation in the Bay Area that has caused controversy after an In-n-Out Burgers' location took a stand against the mandate. So what happens with In-n-Out Burgers in LA when the local requirement takes effect? (NBC San Diego)
  3. There's already a crowded field of candidates running for mayor of Los Angeles, and there could be one more: real estate developer Rick Caruso. Los Angeles Magazine reports Caruso hired a political consulting firm that in the past has worked with Hillary Clinton, Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Vice President Kamala Harris as clients. (KABC-TV)
  4. City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas, who was suspended from office following his indictment on federal corruption charges, recently showed he is sidelined but not silenced by sending his colleagues a letter weighing in on homelessness issues facing the city. In the letter, Ridley-Thomas advocated for his "Right To Housing" agenda, expressed concern about the enforcement of the city's new anti-camping law and opposed the cancellation of recent Homelessness and Poverty Committee meetings. (Spectrum News 1)
  5. If you need a ride out of Bikini Bottom, or maybe just need to cruise around Los Angeles, you're in luck: the famous Patty Wagon from Nickelodeon's SpongeBob Squarepants is on the move in Southern California. For a limited time in Los Angeles, riders will have a chance to win a ride in SpongeBob SquarePants' Patty Wagon (NBC Southern California)
