Clippers' Griffin Out For Remainder Of Playoffs...Again

Breaking: The team's leading scorer injured the plantar plate of his right big toe Friday night.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin will miss the rest of the NBA Playoffs with a toe injury, the team announced Saturday. Griffin injured the plantar plate of his right big toe in the Clippers' 111-106 victory over the Utah Jazz on Friday night. The Clippers lead their first-round, best-of-seven series, 2-1, with Game 4 set for 6 p.m. Sunday in Utah.

Griffin will be re-examined when the Clippers return to Los Angeles, where he'll be seen by foot and ankle specialist Dr. Richard Ferkel. It is the second consecutive year the team has been hit by the injury bug during the playoffs. Griffin and point guard Chris Paul were both knocked out of the Clippers' first-round series against the Portland Trailblazers with injuries last season, and the Clippers lost the series.
