Erin Gavin is an accomplished Scottish actress, producer and now director and screenwriter of “Gaming for Love,” a poignant short narrative film, inspired by true events which follows the journey of Maisie, a young girl battling cancer, as she finds solace and strength in the world of online gaming. Immersed in her virtual adventures, Maisie's passion for gaming becomes a source of joy amidst her illness, bringing her closer to her family and unexpected friendships across the globe. As Maisie's health deteriorates, her unwavering spirit and the support of her parents shines through, culminating in a heartwarming celebration of her life and the enduring impact she leaves behind. Through themes of love, sacrifice, and the power of human connection, "Gaming for Love" beautifully illustrates the profound influence of gaming in Maisie's life and the bonds forged beyond the confines of the digital realm,” states director Erin Gavin. Gavin attended the Royal Academy, and as a child portrayed roles in the television series “Taggert.” Gain also portrayed the role of Marilyn Monroe in the stage play “Marilyn: My Secret at the Macha Theater” in Hollywood, CA, and in the television movie “Marilyn: The Last Investigation.”
Gavin, as the writer, director and lead actress of the film recalls “writing the story because she felt she had to; fueled with a “true love for telling this story.” It tells the tale of the positive aspects of gaming which brings people together as a community, forging real friendships.
The message of love and how love shows up in different ways, is a profound message found within this story. Erin Gavin eloquently states, “Love isn’t just one thing; it’s complex, raw and sometimes surprises us. ‘Gaming for Love’ is about the many shapes that love can take and the truth that it presents - profound truths which connect us all.”
Gaming for Love" was submitted to film festivals worldwide, winning “Best Short Film” and other accolades. “One of the biggest aspects in the feedback that we received was how the film left audiences feeling deeply moved with a real connection to the universal message it conveyed.”
The production crew teamed up with an inspiring and beautiful charity fundraiser - Player vs. Cancer to help terminally ill children. It helped to raise awareness for their plight and the importance of keeping hope alive.

The production team's evolution as to who became a part of the production was a very organic process - friends and friends of friends, all joining forces to bring “Gaming for Love "to life. “With the support of Up Next Studios, I gained not only friends but also future collaborators. The actors were amazing; I knew right away when I saw them that they were the perfect fit,” concludes Gavin.
Director Erin Gavin’s ultimate goal with the project as a film For Consideration for the Oscar’s is to “allow people to feel and to remember the importance of reaching out to loved ones that they haven’t spoken to in a while. Life is short and love is everything. Of course, it would be an honor to win Best Live Action Short Film, and inspiring others always means so very much. When we can create media and tell stories that inspire and empower people to remember the power of love and community, this means a lot.”

Erin Gavin tells stories that motivate her, based in love and compassion and with a foundation based in helping others through the powerful, inspiring stories that she is a part of bringing to fruition.
“Future plans include directing a forthcoming feature film for another screenwriter,” states Gavin, and I have plans for my own feature that I will be directing.
