Crash Shuts Down 5 Freeway Tuesday Morning

LOS ANGELES, CA — A crash shut down part of the 5 Freeway Tuesday morning near downtown Los Angeles, impacting traffic on several nearby freeways.

The crash involving six vehicles was first reported on the 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights at around 8:26 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and performed lifesaving measures on at least one person who was described as unresponsive.

A Sigalert was issued at 8:45 a.m. as authorities shut down all lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway in the area where it meets the 60, 10 and 101 freeways.

Traffic was backed up to the 710 Freeway interchange as of 9:10 a.m.

Motorists were warned to expect delays of up to an hour.
