Crews Battle Pomona Brushfire

A slow-moving brushfire headed uphill near North Fairplex Drive and the San Bernardino (10) Freeway.

POMONA, CA — A brush fire broke out Monday afternoon in Pomona and scorched at least 50 acres of grass.

The two-alarm blaze ignited near North Fairplex Drive and the San Bernardino (10) Freeway for unknown reasons about 2:20 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported.

One water-dropping helicopter and a dozen engines were sent to the scene.

The fire was 75 percent contained as of 8 p.m., Dispatch Supervisor Michele Sims said.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
